Thankyou so much to On The Pulse Equine PEMF for coming out to treat Goldush in Adelaide before our big trip! He absolutely loved it and I will be back in a few months when we come back through. See you soon! ... See MoreSee Less
Flic and i had the pleasure of treating Classic Goldrush and his owner Alycia Burton- Free Riding NZ yesterday.
Her story is amazing and she is the loveliest person. Her dream is to open her home and...
Throwback to Goldrush clearing 1.70 when we performed at the Australian International 3 day event in Adelaide last year.
STOP THE FIGHTING! Why do I not have a bit on Goldrush?
Most of the time I ride without using a bit with Goldrush because he simply doesn't like them. Before you comment- YES I have tried him in every bit possible and his teeth are excellent.
When he has a bit in he will often open his mouth and fight constantly even if there is no pressure on the reins- he doesnt stop chomping and is clearly uncomfortable.
MOST people would put a tight 'drop noseband' on to force his naughty mouth closed.
You will never see me use a drop noseband ever again- WHY? Because it is masking the issue instead off fixing the problem.
The horse is opening his mouth out of discomfort, confusion or pain... NOT because he is being naughty!
The horses mouth and nose is just as sensitive as ours (if not more) Tight drop nose bands seriously interfere with the horses breathing, and are nothing short of painful.
Disagree? Please go strap your own mouth shut putting tight pressure on the sides of your nose and go exercise. Now tell me how much you love it 🙂
We must always be able to put ourselves in our horses position. Would you like it done to you- would it help you or hinder you? Ask the question WHY is my horse doing this?
I do not have an issue with bits and I use them on many horses. However- I will always try to work with the individual horse instead of what the horse world says is 'right' or 'wrong'.
I want my horse to be happy and I do not want to fight. I do what ever I can to make this happen. Some horses like Goldrush do not like bits and you are better off riding them bitless.
I see so many horses with their mouths tightly shut... please DO NOT do this to your horse. When the rider is asked 'why' they have a tight drop noseband on- the most common reply is "My instructor told me to" or "Everyone does it"
SOME HANDY ADVISE- Don't let your instructor or friend put forceful gear on your horse because they are more experienced then you. YOU are the voice for your horse and it is your responsibility to make sure he is ok. When you know its wrong SAY NO 🙂
Rachel IncollCan't believe some people are so narrow minded...you do what works for each horse...& personally I think if I was a horse, I would much rather bitless than a piece of metal in my mouth no matter how 'gentle' it was...it's great to see you out there Alycia, showing people that bits aren't a necessary piece of equipment <3 😉🐎
Caitlin EdgleyThe proof is definitely in the pudding with this one! Look at the things this horse and rider team can achieve, simply by using the best method they can in order to keep them both happy and comfortable!!
Love your work!
Leah HockingAll the best Amber, love from Mackenzie and family xx

Last week were were in Sydney giving a performance, lessons and a youth retreat camp. We had a BLAST in Sydney and have already planned our trip back next year.
This week we have been in Canberra- The Capitol of Australia!
We have a few young ladies "On Tour" with us- This is normally a 7 day + stay where you become part of the team and learn more about running an equine business, training horses, training riders, dealing with hurt, bullying, changes in life, pressure in school and much more.
Olivia is a very competitive rider who rides multiple horses in the show ring and jumping. She has groomed for some of Australia's top riders and is a very keen learner.
Katarina has joined us for 3 weeks all the way from Slovakia. She is a 1.20 Show Jumper who owns and competes her two horses.
Claudia has joined us for 2 weeks from Sydney. She has a passion for helping horses who have been mistreated and her dream is to be able to own her own business retraining horses.
We have also Josh and Bree who came to our last camp join us for the weekend as well as Taylah, Bella and Tash. Great to see you guys again!
Next up we are in Bathurst and Dubbo before heading to Mildura and then South Australia. ... See MoreSee Less

Hanski CanskiThank you TEAM FREE RIDING! It was great to see the focus on communication, partnership, simplicity and FUN! I think we all need to be reminded that a horse doesn't owe us anything and riding is fun! Great to see Goldrush free to play with his mini-buddy afterwards too 🙂
Hanski CanskiPS... The FREE REIN is great for riding yoga stretches! 🙂 I don't have a horse right now, due to a long illness and then a back injury, but I'm busy getting fit again to ride asap, and my new free rein will really help! Thank you x 🙂 🙂 🙂
