Its nearly been 3 months since I stopped my in Colorado. In this time I have only ridden a few times at two youth camps in August. My beautiful horses are turned out and I have barely seen them.
Sometimes we need to take a full break, to completely put something down that we have been working on for too long and to focus on other areas in our life for a while.
If we dont learn to do this occasionally we put ourselves in danger of burning out, loosing our joy or loosing our passion and quitting all together.
The biggest problem I find with people doing this is our inner critic yelling at us that we are weak and need to toughen up, that we are lazy, that we will go backwards with our progress, that others will talk about us or judge us and so much more.
Rome wasnt built in a day, and the hammer will still be there waiting for you to pick it back up tomorrow.
The next time your inner voice, starts to yell at you – tell it to shut up…. Along with anyone else for that matter!!!
In a world praised for overachieving and overworking…. We must learn to say no – put the hammer down and look after ourselves.
I promise when you come back you will be stronger then ever and your passion will be burning strong again.
What do you love that you need to take rest from for a while?
